Ramadan – I need help with my biology homework?
=(
Please help me…I said please!
Suggest two advantages (other than an increased probability of survival), of using umbilical cord blood stem cells instead of bone marrow stem cells in transplant procedures.
Ugh I dont even know what that means!!
Thanks =D
Well I’m in pre-IB Chemistry right now, took pre-IB biology last year. Taking IB (finally) next year.
I’d say (and I’m not looking anything up, I’m just taking this from what I already know), but:
1) Umbilical cords are created solely for the mother to take food/nutrients/hormones etc to the baby. Therefore, it is newer, and the probablility of it working better will be evident/more possible.
2)The multi-potent-stem-cell-blood in umbilical cords has been proven to work just as well as bone marrow. They are LESS PRONE TO REJECTION (put this in there). Also, umbilical cords lack immune system efficency. So the body will less likey attack it.
There, I gave you a lot in the second one. (I looked up all the ones in the second one).
